  • Pikachu mentions "nipples" at one point.
  • Detective Pikachu is excited to invite someone over to his apartment, and then clarifies that he's "not that kind of Pokémon," which is a a crude innuendo, but one which will go over kids' heads.
  • Tim (Justice Smith) tries to impress Lucy (Kathryn Newton) with "Well, I'm actually pretty good at being alone at night." While Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) and Psyduck watch. Pikachu says "Oh, that did not land right at all..." Done for laughs.

Violence & Gore

Profanity

  • The word "hell" is used twice in the film.
  • Damn is used once in the movie and hell is used twice.
  • "Damn" is uttered once in the entire movie.
  • A character mutters "Oh sh--" before cutting himself off.

  • The Pokémon have hyper-realistic live-action appearances in this film which, despite looking pretty nice, may scare some, especially those are familiar with the anime and the previous adaptations.

  • Pokémon who inhaled unidentified gas lose their temper and become violent.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Multiple instances of a drug like substance that makes the Pokémon become wild and dangerous, might be frightening to younger viewers
  • The villain uses serum R to make the Pokémon act savagely and harm others.
  • One Pokémon shape-shifts into other Pokémon and humans. In both cases, it has beady black eyes that are disturbing on Pokémon, and far more so on humans.
