Quotes

Herself - Co-Winner: Best Documentary Short: Okay, well, thank you to the Academy for this huge honor to all of our teams. Of course to Netflix, our work family, for supporting us with this film. But most of all, thank you to the White Helmets.
Himself - Winner: Best Documentary Short: Sadly, Raed Saleh, the head of the White Helmets, is not able to join us tonight. We have a very short statement from him that we'd like to share with you: We're so grateful that this film has highlighted our work to the world. Our organization is guided by a verse from the Koran: "To save one life...

We are definitely family
28 February 2017 | by Electron LibreSee all my reviews

As Ken Loach said during the British Awards when he received his price for "I, Daniel Blake": "back all the glamour and pomp, we stand with you". Well, this is definitely what happens in all those ceremonies. All those talented people stand with us, make us stronger, proud, make us dream, laugh, cry. The ceremony started with Timberlake with the very cool song from Trolls (great animated!) and then came the host who did a great job. Gosh! How can this guy be so calm? The show was funny. The jokes with Matt Damon were hilarious. There was a great homage for Meryl (yes, Meryl, we are family now, remember?) made by Javier Barden and another one for Lady MacLaine. I have to mention the decor, it was FABULOUS! The music was cool this year. Well, the girl from Moana is very cute but this kind of Disney cheesy melody is not my cup of tea. It was the let down of the evening in my opinion. That is why I gave a 9 and not a 10. The mixing of the envelopes was of course very confusing but the passing of the Oscar from La La Land to Moonlight was made in an elegant way. Somebody should learn about this elegant way to "lose". And when I mean somebody, you know who I am talking about...: all the Negans, Dark Vadors, Saurons, Scrooges, Bond villains, Voldemorts and many more others, moving in the shadows... who are our era's mythological villains. It seems that people haven't got the message yet. But don't worry, our Hollywood family has still a lot of magical pictures to pick from its magical hat. Thank you Hollywood, you made us proud to be human this year again. Peace and love to you all.
