God of War (2018 Video Game)
[Kratos dons his Blades of Chaos]
Athena: There's nowhere you can hide, Spartan. Put as much distance between you and the truth as you want, it changes nothing. Pretend to be everything you are not: teacher, husband, father. But there is one unavoidable truth you will never escape: You cannot change. You will always be a monster.
Kratos: I know. But I am your monster no longer.
[Kratos, Atreus and Mimir travel into the Midgard Serpent's gullet]
Mimir: Well, brothers, I've been to many strange places, but this will be a new one.
Atreus: Heh... yeah, I've never been in a giant's belly, either. How about you, father?
Kratos: Never one that was not trying to eat me.
Mimir: We really should expect that sort of response at this point...
Mimir: [looks at his decapitated body] Well, that's a sight no man should ever see. Thanks for that.
Kratos: Kratos: Close your heart to it. On our journey we will be attacked by all manner of creature. Close your heart to their desperation. Close your heart to their suffering. Do not allow yourself to feel for them. They will not feel for you.
Mimir: I'm dangling from the hip of the bloody Ghost of Sparta!
Kratos: Do NOT call me that.
Mimir: Don't mistake me, brother. From what I heard, the pantheon had it coming. But it's still a bit to take in. I knew you hate gods, but you really can't stay away from them, can you?
Kratos: You must say nothing to the boy. He must never know.
Mimir: Bollocks, brother! Respectfully, bollocks. He has to know. He'll never be whole without the truth. Look, I get it: you hate the gods, ALL gods. It's no accident that includes yourself. And it includes your boy, don't you see that? He feels that. He can't help what he is - he can't begin to help it, because you haven't even told him! It's all connected, man.
Kratos: You... will tell him nothing.
Mimir: Very well.
Atreus: If we can't bring him back to life... can I keep the head?
Kratos: No. But you may feed it to the fish.
Kratos: The Truth. I am a god, boy, from another land, far from here. When I came to these shores, I chose to live as a man.But the truth is... I was born a god. And so were you.
Kratos: Boy? Carry her.
[gives Atreus his mother's ashes]
Atreus: What are we hunting?
Kratos: You are hunting deer.
Atreus: Which way?
Kratos: In the direction of deer.
Kratos: [after Atreus accuses him of not caring about Faye] Mind your tongue, boy! Until our journey is complete, one of us must remain focused! Do not mistake my silence for lack of grief.
[Kratos and Atreus awaken in alarm to a raging storm outside their home, and a cloaked man standing in the snow]
Kratos: Who are you?
[Thor sweeps cloak away to reveal his hammer; Mjolnir]
Kratos: These tunnels are a bit small for giants.
Kratos: [Atreus laughs] Why did you laugh?
Atreus: Oh, you're serious?
Kratos: I am ALWAYS SERIOUS.
Atreus: It was nice meeting you, Brok. I'll be thinking of a name for your beat.
Brok: How bout I name her "F**king Gratitude?" Hey, "F**king Gratitude", come over here. I like it!
Mimir: Aye... so you value your privacy more than your son?
Kratos: I'm going to cut off your head now.
Mimir: Fair enough.
[Kratos cuts off Mimir's head]
Atreus: [sees the body of a dead beast] What happened to him?
Kratos: It died.
Atreus: Well... yeah.
Atreus: [to Freya] You live alone?
Freya: It's better this way.
Atreus: Yeah. My father doesn't like people either.
Atreus: Well... you don't.
Mimir: In fact, we would do well to sit here in silence for the next few moments and reflect on Odin's capacity for cruelty.
Mimir: And so...
Kratos: Reflect longer.
Atreus: [Kratos gives Atreus his axe] You're giving me your axe?
Kratos: I'm letting you HOLD my axe.
[Kratos walks through Hel]
Zeus: [appears] Kratos.
Kratos: My father...
Mimir: Your father was Zeus? That explains a lot.
[Zeus fades away]
Kratos: [to Mimir] What is that place?
Mimir: NEVER go there. Understand?
Mimir: [after discovering that the witch of the woods is the goddess Freya] Some people value their privacy. Best not to judge, brother.
Kratos: When I require your counsel, head, I will ask.
Mimir: Fair enough.
