Goofs

It is stated at least twice that Vic Edwards was playing on the Tennessee football team during the 1951 season (supposedly a sophomore in college). However, the Wikipedia page Lil pulls up shows that Vic was born in 1936, making him 15 while supposedly playing college football. He would have been a high school sophomore during the 1951 season (in fact, Burt Reynolds was a high school sophomore during the 1951 football season as he graduated high school in 1954). See more »

Quotes

Vic Edwards: You wanna know I needed to come to knoxville, I needed to say goodbye, Goodbye to the town that made me who Iam, Goodbye to the trees I climbed as a kid, Goodbye to the school that tought me how to break the rules, and the streets I wondered late at night, the hidden places that I left all my secrets, The town where I made so many many mistakes, and now its time for one last goodbye.

A surprise treat!
28 March 2018 | by tharpnlSee all my reviews

This is a memorable performance by a versatile, veteran actor, made all the more poignant by a role that often echoes his real-life movie star career. Beautifully written and brilliantly edited and choreographed, interspersed with Reynolds variously and hilariously playing alongside his younger self in clips from earlier films, this is a sweet and fitting addition to his already impressive legacy. It's one he can certainly be proud of, and worthy of recognition come awards season.
