Lasse is an old racist who has lives in an apartment block filled with a selection of refugees and immigrants. Kamal is a 16-year old boy who's fed up in his life in Finland, and dreams of moving to Nairobi to live with his father. Only problem is that he doesn't have the money to buy the ticket. Saw it yesterday at the EU film festival, Sirifort auditorium in New Delhi. We had low expectations as I had seen the low ratings on IMDb. It turned out to be a huge surprise; it is the right film, touches the right chords and deals with sensitive issues (such as racism) tactfully and with humour. Acting by all participants including the protagonists (the old man and the young boy) is A grade. PEOPLE CLAPPED AT THE END OF IT AND SOME CRIED AT TIMES, such is the emotional release at times.
Not a moment here is boring and you glide with the film. Esp if you have been to Finland and lived in summer cottages (like yours truly), you will enjoy it even more but lack of that experience is not a dampener. Watch it with family and friends. Watch it again, and again. :)
