The head stabbing scene involved camera and position trickery - the knife was actually a plastic prop that was pushed into Becca's hair to make it look it it went inside her head at the right camera angle.

The hanging scene with the chain required two chains and never was the chain tied into a noose. A smaller chain was replaced and wrapped around Amanda's neck as she sat on top of a chair and lifted herself up on cue when Lexi pulled the longer chain against her back and flung over the cage, unattached.

Contrary to the new marketing, the film is neither a snuff firm or banned in Ohio. The reason for this was to not only make the film more attractable but to gain a heaver Ohio fan base, since Ohio residents are big consumers of horror films.

Contrary to popular belief, GIRLFIGHT was NEVER based on FIGHT CLUB. Fight Club is more of an existentialist, anarchist movie featuring a psychotic whereas Girlfight is a female-ran tournament pitting women against each other.

Other influences for the film include Japanese film violence, like that seen in Battle Royale and anime; Bare Knuckles; Bloodlines; Kick Ass Girls; The Arena; Shootfighter; and Freshfite Female Fighting sports league. GIRLFIGHT was promoted during a couple of Freshfite fights in the summer of 2016 and it was publicly announced it had been an influence for the film. Gladiator and Amazon films featuring an all-female battle contest did not really influence this film.

There are specific parts of the film influenced by non-fight movies and sporting events: 1. The barb-wire ripping the mouth scene was influenced by a Dudley Boys match at the 2010 TNA Hardcore Justice PPV for which Kelcey attended in the VIP section and is frequently seen in the DVD as an audience member and his voice his heard asking Mick Foley a question in the extras. 2. Although many speculate the heart ripping scene was from Mortal Kombat video games, it was more so inspired by the scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom despite the human heart is not devoured in that film. 3. The hanging by chain scene was designed as an original idea because most hanging scenes use rope; Kelcey wanted the scene to be brutal and for the character who does it to show her opponent that she is in charge. 4. Moonlight's body parts and body bag is somewhat a throwback to Monster Brawl, a movie where monster-based wrestlers wrestle in a cemetery. The body bag was supposed to be used but the idea was later scrapped. 5. Moonlight's character was more of what Raven was supposed to be had the feature film been made. 6. The face rip idea was inspired by the same scene in RAZE, except a cage is used versus a brick wall. In GIRLFIGHT, the blood and fake skin were already there - the camera faced forward as Angel was blocking it with her body and only as Rachel slide her face down was the effect revealed to make it look wicked and brutal.

GIRLFIGHT sold a $3,000 DVD on Amazon.com in September 2016. As the sale was deemed incredible by the director himself, he posted his bank statement, royalty report, and royalty calculation showing that indeed a GIRLFIGHT DVD had sold for $3,000 and that he did indeed receive a $1600 royalty for the sale. This evidence can still be found on his Web site by going to girlfightmovie.com, clicking "Media Room," scrolling down to the press release about the $3,000 sale, and clicking the Proof/Evidence link.

Rochelle Davis, the girl from 1994's "The Crow" starring Brandon Lee, was attached early to the film and even signed a 5 year letter of intent. Negotiations fell through. She was cast to play the role of "Rachel."
