Storyline

When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order's unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in 'The Conjuring 2,' as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned. Trivia

After the "Demon Nun" from The Conjuring 2 (2016) proved to be a popular horror antagonist, a spin-off focusing on the character was green-lit, making her the second character to get her own feature after Annabelle (2014). The Crooked Man, from Conjuring 2, will be the third in The Crooked Man. See more »

Goofs

Romania was defeated during WWII and, following the overthrow of its monarchy, experienced a decade of instability while communist forces consolidated their hold on power and fought petty squabbles among themselves. This was common news at the time and certainly would have been known by the Vatican. Even if a priest and a novitiate had been allowed into the country, they would have received an escort by a government functionary and would not have been allowed to travel alone in the country. User Reviews

This movie sucked.

I wanted to like The Nun but damn this movie was garbage. Sure it was shot nicely and the acting was fine, but good grief the story was dull as dish water. Full of cheap scares and a dumb, dragging plot. The nun character was far scarier in The Conjuring movies.
