Storyline

Stan's FBI investigative senses cannot help but go on high alert when his neighbors and best friends Phil and Elizabeth seem to always be suspiciously out very late at night working at their travel agency, and/or taking out of state flights to handle last minute issues with their clients conveniently when one of his fellow agents and/or his confidential informants get murdered. Oleg gets arrested and the FBI agents intercept Phil's dead drop message that Oleg was intending to get back to Gorbachev. As the FBI picks up the Russian priest and they apply pressure on him to either save his church or not give up the two Russian KGB agents Phil and Elizabeth that he recently married, Phil and Elizabeth realize that they have to try and get back home to Russia, but they are in a real quandary what to do about their two children, Paige and Henry. Goofs

When we see Paige's Canadian passport, it's written she is from Manikawi, Quebec. This town doesn't exist. It is probably a misspelling of Maniwaki, that does exist. Given that not many people will know about that I guess it was an unwanted mistake, but when you know it, it becomes a plot point where this passport becomes really important in the family escape. Quotes

Agent Ganzel: I probably checked fifty so far. Loeb's been on 'em the whole time.
Stan Beeman: How many did he look at?
Agent Ganzel: Almost 200. We narrowed it down to fifteen, but even if we're right on one, what're the chances they're going to that garage right now?
Stan Beeman: If all their shit's in there, they're running...
Agent Ganzel: I'm not saying no. I'm just saying get ready for another possible nothing.

An exhilarating finish
27 November 2019 | by Mr-FusionSee all my reviews

With how this final season's been going, I'd expected something more confrontational and violent to cap off "The Americans". But 'START' had other ideas in mind, and it's a finale that runs low on flying bullets and heavy on life-altering decisions. This is an amazing episode that sees the entire Jennings family dealing head-on with the dying days of the Cold War, and all three of the main actors (Rhys, Russell and Emmerich) deserve Emmys.

I'm trying not to sidetrack into spoilerville, but what happens to these people is nothing short of incredible; it's sad, but even more importantly, it feels organic -- even in a story that features a household in ruins.

Jesus, what an ending!
