Storyline

Stan's FBI investigative senses cannot help but go on high alert when his neighbors and best friends Phil and Elizabeth seem to always be suspiciously out very late at night working at their travel agency, and/or taking out of state flights to handle last minute issues with their clients conveniently when one of his fellow agents and/or his confidential informants get murdered. Oleg gets arrested and the FBI agents intercept Phil's dead drop message that Oleg was intending to get back to Gorbachev. As the FBI picks up the Russian priest and they apply pressure on him to either save his church or not give up the two Russian KGB agents Phil and Elizabeth that he recently married, Phil and Elizabeth realize that they have to try and get back home to Russia, but they are in a real quandary what to do about their two children, Paige and Henry. Trivia

The music initially chosen for the climactic finale was "American Pie" by Don McLean, however when putting it to the scene, it seemed to overpower the scene and the music supervisors wanted a song more relevant to that period of the late 80s. They settled on "With or Without You" by U2 as they felt it best captured the emotional beats of the scene. The band is very protective of that song's usage in media, but luckily some members were fans of the show and allowed it to be featured. The licensing only cleared on the very last day of mixing the episode. See more »

Goofs

The Volvo 240, when entering the Russian border, has quad square head lights. Only the US version of the 240 were equipped this way, typically named as a USA-front. The Nordic/European models normally had two head lights, round for older make, square for later versions. See more »

Stunning, perfect. Thank you.

Huge thanks to the actors, the writers and all those who worked on this show. Loved all the seasons of The Americans but sixth season and series finale brought the show on par or even on top of the most acclaimed spy novels ever written. Probably never enjoyed a TV series so much (and I'm a series junky) and this final episode was the emotional climax it deserved. Characters, story and storytelling remain consistent across all the seasons without ever falling to cheap "filler" episodes or idiotic and illogical decisions by the characters so the story can move on which many tv series, movies or even books often have to recur to. Top notch entertainment with meticulous historical period description and narration, dense with moral dilemmas it immerses the viewer in the hearth of the cold war leaving every kind of moral judgment to the viewer instead of forcing it on him. Again, THANKS ! FREE OLEG !
