Escape Room Trailer: Maze Thriller with Deadly Puzzles

Joseph Baxter Oct 19, 2018

Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll and Lost in Space’s Taylor Russell tackle a surreal maze with killer consequences in Escape Room.

Escape Room, a psychological thriller from Sony Pictures, might just become a refreshing entry for the horror genre’s current phase of jump-scare ghost movies. Moreover, it’s the kind of film that inspires education and creative thinking, utilizing the ultimate form of duress: an elaborately violent death.

Fans of Netflix TV will know some of its primary players, such as Lost in Space co-star Taylor Russell and Daredevil co-star Deborah Ann Woll. They are joined here by Tyler Labine (New Amsterdam), Nik Dodani (Murphy Brown), Logan Miller (The Walking Dead) and Jay Ellis (Insecure) as part of a group who volunteer to participate in an experimental maze in which – unbeknownst to them – their ability to solve problems will keep them alive.

Trailer: Dare You Enter The ‘Escape Room?’

‘Find the clues, or die.’ The Escape Room trailer has arrived! This new psychological horror looks kind of intriguing and seems to take elements of films like Saw and mix them with, erm, The Crystal Maze? Escape Room isn’t out until February, but here’s your first look.

Sony Pictures’ Escape Room

The official synopsis on the Escape Room trailer page on YouTube, where the promo just popped up, reads: Escape Room is a psychological thriller about six strangers who find themselves in circumstances beyond their control and must use their wits to find the clues or die.

The trailer really intrigued me, and, to be honest, this film looks right up my street. Escape Room previously went by the title The Maze and has reportedly been in the can for quite some time, but it’ll finally get to see cinema screen in the early part of the new year.

Escape Room Trailer Locks 6 Strangers in a Deadly Trap

Now that Saw is on permanent hiatus until Lionsgate once again decides to reboot the popular horror franchise, we're getting the much tamer Escape Room, which basically follows the same premise, as spelled out in the tagline on the first one-sheet, 'Find the Clues, or Die!' Sounds familiar enough, doesn't it? Sony has also released the first trailer for this thriller which is coming very early in 2019. In fact, it's so close, you can almost taste the stainless steel in your mouth.

Escape Room is a psychological thriller about six strangers who find themselves in circumstances beyond their control and must use their wits to find the clues or perish in the most horrible way possible. Yup, sounds like Saw to us. And sure, Escape Rooms have become a popular pastime for people who want to torment themselves these past few years. But let's face it. Saw was the

Trailer For an Old West Horror Thriller Called The Wind

If you're a fan of westerns and a fan of the horror film genre, I've got a trailer her for a movie that you don't want to miss. It's called The Wind and it looks like a great old west thriller that I know I'd enjoy. I love this kind of stuff!

The film was directed by Emma Tammi and is set in the western frontier in the late 1800’s. A woman moves to the American frontier to settle it with her husband, but an evil presence soon makes itself known and infects her with paranoia. Here's the full synopsis:

With The Wind, director Emma Tammi and writer Teresa Sutherland have embarked on a nightmarish yet empathetic exploration of domestic solitude, skilfully conjuring — in bone-chilling visual and sonic strokes — an indescribable spectre that seems to emanate from the abysses of the night itself.Unravelling across a series of flashbacks that

Interview: Javier Botet Talks Getting into Character for Mara, Finding Freedom on Two Pigeons, and More

  • DailyDead
Arriving in theaters and on VOD this Friday is Clive Tonge’s Mara, a supernatural thriller centered on a paranormal entity of the same name who strikes her victims by utilizing sleep paralysis as a weapon.

Daily Dead recently spoke with Botet about his creative process on Mara, how he approaches collaborating with filmmakers on bringing their visions to life, and he even discussed the freedom he experienced recently on Two Pigeons (aka Freehold), in which he plays a stowaway living inside a guy’s apartment and takes full advantage of his stealthy status, as the makeup-free experience allowed him to really let loose.

So great to speak with you, Javier. In terms of Mara, and maybe this applies to other movies as well, but when you're coming on to do a character like this, what is your process as an actor? Do you work out the physicality before the makeup process,

Q&A: Writer/Director Mathieu Turi on Blending Genres and Working with Javier Botet for Hostile

  • DailyDead
Stranded in a car wreck in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Juliette (Brittany Ashworth) has to fend off a strange creature who isn't interested in giving her a hand in Hostile. With the new horror movie out now on VOD platforms and DVD from 4Digital Media, we caught up with writer/director Mathieu Turi to discuss combining genres, the influence of Richard Matheson's I Am Legend, and working with Javier Botet.

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Mathieu. How and when did you first come up with the idea for Hostile?

Mathieu Turi: I previously did two short films, Sons of Chaos (2010), a post-apocalyptic/action/creature short which received official selection in multiple film festivals around the world and officially competed at Sitges in 2011. The second film, Broken (2012), is a love story/drama set in an elevator. So, in a way, Hostile is a mix of the two short films.

10 Best Horror Movies of 2018 You've Already Missed

10 Best Horror Movies of 2018 You've Already Missed
We're barely past the midpoint and it's already been a great year for horror movies. A Quiet Place pleased critics and genre aficionados in droves, Hereditary left audiences shocked and gasping, Upgrade delivered unprecedented ultraviolence, and Annihilation found an unlikely yet enthralling intersect between fantasy and body horror. We've also seen solid sequels in Insidious: The Last Key, The First Purge, and Hellraiser: Judgment. And the best may be yet to come, with The Nun, The Predator, and Halloween all coming down the pike when it comes to 2018 horror Movies.

Sure, there have been some disappointments as well but there've also been some incredible genre offerings that have fallen through the cracks. If you're one of those cinephiles who complains there's nothing new or original horror movies being produced these days, you simply aren't looking hard enough.

But hey, that's what I'm here for: To separate the wheat from the
