God Bless the Broken Road tells the story of a young mother who loses her husband in Afghanistan and struggles to raise their young daughter in his absence. The film combines elements of faith, country music, and stock car racing while paying tribute to those who serve in the United States Military.
NASCAR, Christian Music, Cliches Galore.
First the writer ignores the benefits available to widows of kia soldiers in order to make up the hackneyed cliche of poor widow about to lose her home to heartless banker. What did she do with the 100k death benefit and her monthly dic payment? Not supposed to think about these things. Problem with too many Christian movies, you have to leave your brsin at the door. The real story, the widow loses her faith and we watch as her daughter and friends try to get her to re-engage with her faith. Then we have to suffer through a competing Tom Cruze type coming of age NASCAR story. Please.
