The single shot fired by the officer was shown as being instantly fatal and knocking down the suspect. The NYPD uses 9mm handguns and issues relatively light 124 grain jacketed hollow point ammunition. While one shot could incapacitate a suspect, that is highly unlikely and it would not knock him down as was shown. In a 2012 NYPD shooting a homicide suspect was shot a total of 14 times by NYPD officers and survived. See more
