Storyline

Hundreds of years from now, the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. These Travelers assume the lives of seemingly random people, while secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future. These travelers are: FBI Special Agent Grant MacLaren, the team's leader; Marcy, a young, intellectually disabled woman in the care of her social worker, David; Trevor, a high school quarterback; Carly, a single mom in an abusive relationship; and Philip, a heroin-addicted college student. Armed only with their knowledge of history and an archive of social media profiles, the travelers discover that 21st century lives and relationships are as much a challenge as their high-stakes missions. Trivia

Travelers Season 1 was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and surrounding area from March 29th to July 19th. The series was based in the former Canada Post Building in downtown Vancouver which has become studio space for many productions in the area. The show also spent a lot of time filming on location; primarily around downtown Vancouver, but they were occasionally spotted elsewhere. See more »

Goofs

The series is meant to take place in the United States - but every regular and recurring actor on the show is Canadian (aside from J. Alex Brinson) and their accents poke through pretty regularly. No American pronounces words like "against" or "about" or "sorry" the way the characters on this show do. See more »

Re-Tweaked "Walk in" Arc Returns in Uber-Tite CDN production
29 November 2016 | by A_Different_DrummerSee all my reviews

If you breeze on by this one, you will miss something.

Canuck Sci-fi veteran Brad Wright (Stargate) seems to have teamed up with Canadian actor/producer Eric McCormack to bring us one of the tightest and leanest shows I have seen in quite some time.

The concept is a joy. Wright has taken the notion of "walk-ins" (something that was hugely popular in the 1970s and then disappeared) and updated it to a more modern, edgy, arc for this series.

The writing is so tight you could use it to re-skin a drum.

Unfortunately, so is the budget. The budget is so lean that you almost expect the TV to turn itself off the moment the show ends. To save power.

The opener hooked me -- solid acting, direction, really neat characters you can care about -- and I can happily put up with sparse location shoots in return for an interesting show. (As for example in the classic Canadian series Witchblade, which also got the most output from the least input.)

Intrigued, happy, optimistic. Hopefully this show will find an audience.
