For a split second before the curtains on stage drop, you can read "Shallow Day" instead of "Calhoun Day".
    • Goofs
The "Battle Hymn of the Republic" was a Union fight song. Nobody celebrating their Southern heritage would sing this song.

Missouri was a slave state that never joined the Confederacy. Much, if not most, of the population wanted to secede but the state was isolated and would be unsupported by the Confederacy. The governor and other state leaders wisely kept Missouri in the Union (the Republic) and saved the state from much of devastation experienced by other southern states. Many Confederate sympathizers joined private militias. A well-known example is Quantrill's Raiders. These guerrilla fighters. Other sympathizers joined the Confederate Army, but they had to travel to a Confederate state to do so.

Camille Preaker: Well, I'm sure you'll do what you think is best.

      Adora Crellin: I try.

Camille Preaker: And I, um... I appreciate you not telling that detective about, um... about me.

Adora Crellin: But darling, he'll find out, won't he? I mean, not to be blunt, but... when you get close?

Camille Preaker: I won't... get close. I don't-I'll never get close.

Adora Crellin: But that's what I wanted to apologize for. You can't get close. That's your father. And it's why I think... I never loved you. You were born to it... that cold nature. I hope that's some comfort to you.

    Oh God!
    Episode Five: Closer

I'm not sure if that cliffhanger from Ripe has paid off in this episode, hasn't paid off, or hasn't yet! But I'm sure that it foreshadowed the most unsettling episode in the series, so far. Oh God! I still can't believe how the Calhoun Day festival was directed, or how the dialogue in this intense long scene was written. This unnerving scene seems as if it came out of a Gothic novel! I just wanted the ending to be more intense to make me more excited to watch the next episode. Also, what leads to the ending is a bit clichéd.
