Gantry is booted from the Beverly Hills mansion of Connie, a woman he lives with as a kept man. She catches him cheating on her, and bedding his psychic clients. Homeless and adrift, Billy discovers Internet preacher Sister Sara, a beautiful evangelist who is a mix of sensual and spiritual energy. He talks his way into Sara's ministry and they become romantic partners. She seeks to redeem "Brother Billy," who manipulates the flock with fake miracles, including a stunt with gold glitter and feathers he claims are from angels. He turns her small online ministry of YouTube sermons into a growing Tinseltown racket involving celebrity converts and sermons at the Hollywood Bowl. A group of women Billy conned in the past unite in MeToo fashion to expose him. Their evidence against Billy leads to Sister Sara breaking up with him and expelling him from her church. Billy admits he doesn't really believe because he was raped by a traveling evangelist as a child. A surprise visit from Billy's past urges him to ask for real faith again.
