Autopilot to the finish
3 June 2020 | by CoventrySee all my reviews

Following the absurdly implausible, but also suitable and very necessary plot twist in "Rise of the Primo", I secretly hoped that "Blood Drive" was back on track for a joyfully explosive finale. But alas, it was idle hope. The series that started out so imaginative and wickedly sardonic, pretty much died after its seventh or eighth episode. In the completely redundant installment "Faces of Blood Drive", Grace attempts to bring Arthur back to his senses after he became the primo (= race winner), the semi-cyborg Christopher finally reaches his partner, and we're given some background on the mysterious leader of Heart Enterprises. There's blood and slaughter, but it all becomes rather repetitive and dull now that the actual race is finished. Clearly, the show outstayed its welcome and literally drags itself towards the finish line on automatic pilot.
