Storyline

The series centers on 17-year-old Joshua "J" Cody, who moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town after his mother dies of a heroin overdose. Headed by boot-tough matriarch Janine "Smurf" Cody and her right-hand Baz, who runs the business and calls the shots, the clan also consists of Pope, the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody boys; Craig, the tough and fearless middle son; and Deran, the troubled, suspicious "baby" of the family.

Very addictive high octane
21 June 2018 | by Br4ve-trave1orSee all my reviews

Finn Cole attracted me to this series from Peaky Blinders and it's basically the same concept. A bad group of a family characters. It's a high quality series that's great for binge watching!!! Its not Emmy material but it's something that does exactly what I want from a TV series...its makes me totally excited to play the next episode and see what happens next! Yes, the movie is incredible but it's perfect for what it did and Animal kingdom is insanely good at doing what it does.

If you're one that finds it hard to suspend belief you may not find the heists and action as immersive or enjoyable but I found it for what it is, entertainment and delivering a amazing story! VERY ADDICTING.

The acting is also brilliant and very believable as is the cast! Smurf and Pope are incredible in this series and after the first couple of episodes you're consuming them in strides. Smurf is like a Gemma Teller but more intelligent. No one has time to waste on TV with the market flooded today so if you're looking for a new show to watch watch Animal Kingdom because its refreshing to watch a series where you're with the antiheroes and pulling for them.
