"Lo que vale un peine" / "A comb value" is a documentary focused in the Spanish Cinema History by several interviews to some of the most renowned professionals in this industry in order to show a variety of opinion, experiences and knowledge. Is for this same reason interviewed professionals are both new faces in the stage as old familiar ones.
Since its beginning the Spanish Cinema has faced many problems, and many wrong preconceptions
about it have grown as years passed by. In the present both the standard consumer and the top society have a pitiful opinion of our national lm industry. A clear example of this are ill public declarations of the Minister of Finance and Public Administration. This only renovates these wrong preconception of our cinema.
Still, outside our national borders, Spanish Cinema is internationally renowned, winning important festivals and well reviewed in the international press. Plus, many Spanish professionals in the industry have been recruited by several foreign lm companies, included the most renowned lm exporter: Hollywood, which inuence all over the world is so notorious that we can feel it on billboards, thoughts and in the very way of life.
As is well known, to understand the present we must look back into the past. Is for this reason that we decided to investigate form the very foundations of this art to its actual situation. This investigation dismantles the ill preconceptions that so much hurt both the industry and its public image. A look into the problem core in order to bring solutions to it.
Bravely and without mincing the words this documentary tries nothing but to improve the opinion many Spanish people have of our industry. Accomplish that would be of great help to both our cinema and our country.
