Religious Intolerance

Born a male, but at age three she told her parents she was a girl. After having lost a Supreme Court case arguing against same sex marriage in 2015 conservatives & evangelicals in 2016 turned their attention toward transgender restroom/bathroom & other self-identifying rights that had been legal for over a decade in Washington State. Joining other states e.g. Missouri, S. Dakota, Michigan, Illinois, N. Carolina in questioning why transgender identifying people should be allowed their preferred choice. Trans peoples, already possessing extremely high suicide rates largely due to harassment & lack of support, were now facing organized fear & hate based political assaults. Although there were no documented cases in a decade of sexual predation by a trans person in women's bathrooms that scenario was presented as the cause célèbre in a manner similar to fears presented in the '50s to justify segregation of blacks. The facts: Brains develop differently through either genetic differences w/added variations of single x, y, as well as xxx, xxxy, xyy, xxy sex chromosomes or brain function spanning a varying continuum of female to male. And, we all use self-identification in making gender choices. Addendum: The DVD doc "The Gospel of Eureka Springs, AR showcases a city ordinance #2223 in 2015 which passed w/these words: "seeks to protect and safeguard the right and opportunity of all persons to be free from unfair discrimination based on real or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, familial status, marital status, socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, disability and veteran status."
