Back when Big Macintosh talked
8 October 2016 | by ericstevensonSee all my reviews

This entire episode is a flashback and it features Apple Bloom learning about the time Applejack made a huge lie. I admit that it's weird to see a flashback before Apple Bloom was born and yet Applejack's parents are nowhere to be seen. They have to be around at this time to have her, right? I really liked Big Macintosh talking a lot here, more so than in any other episode. They worked around it by not having him talk in the present. I admit that it was kind of disappointing to see Filthy Rich and Spoiled Rich featured in an episode and not have Diamond Tiara appear. She's done virtually nothing since she reformed!

This is still very entertaining. It's funny to see the young designs of the characters. Their voices are different too. It's funny to learn that Spoiled Rich's name was Spoiled Milk before! Seeing everyone younger is always nice. I'm glad to see Applejack as the element of honesty featured in another episode. There's a lot of funny background events going on. You can see Derpy's eyes covered in bandages in one scene! A few seconds before that, you can see pony versions of the twins from "The Shining" in the background. This episode has it all! ***1/2
