At gun-point the gamekeeper accuses the group of stealing his dog before leaving to look for her. One of the party, Cosmo, makes a break for it whilst the others are somewhat mysteriously joined by an apparent friend of Johnners, Christoph, who soon becomes the leader. An annoyed Sledge leaves, taking another of the stags, Mex, with him . Ian and Johnners throw their lot in with Christoph before being forced to abandon him.
