Place of beauty and tradition

As I watched Coverdale: A Year in the Life, I became increasingly aware of how active and 'engaged' the older people in the community were in a way which would be hard to find in a city or town. Some of the shots of the changing seasons are very beautiful, but at the same time farm equipment like tractors are very much in evidence which gives the film a good balanced feel. You could envy the close knit life the community seems to share, yet the filmmakers also include a moment or two of conflict which makes the film an honest portrayal of the life, and behind that, still in the folk memory and still acted out is a pagan ritual, one that might be very local.
