Seagal nicks it into the bud for an Islamist terrorist plot
An American action thriller. Next stop Istanbul for Steven Seagal. He plays John Harmon, a CIA/DEA enforcer who is investigating a plot to bring deadly weapons and terrorist organisation leaders into the USA over its border with Mexico. To prevent an attack on America, Harmon must turn two savage forces against each other. Seagal gives a reasonable performance, his demeanour chilled and enigmatic when not ruthless, but the fighting scenes are less than impressive for their camera angles due to him not being limber enough for the athletic character he is purporting to be.
The plot is protracted but the story provides some interest in the way the chase and surveillance sequences play out. The dialogue is a bit of a let-down, expletive-driven. The exposition a little heavy handed too, explaining plot directly. Technically, the CGI rendering is below-par. Sound is not good in parts, especially early on with Seagal's dialogue.
