Somayeh's found a way to make a leap, from the destitution her family's buried deep, it's an arrangement, there's no desire, no spark or glue or love or fire, but it takes her to a place off the scrapheap. It's a choice that causes chaos and confusion, as she's a pivotal part of the family institution, how will they cope when she has left, although they'll all feel quite bereft, but she's always made substantial contribution.
It's a wonderful piece of filmmaking with some top drawer performances that leave you under no illusion of what poverty and drug addiction can lead to. The story flows seamlessly, the dialogue is raw and realistic, as with the rest of this directors films, it drops you into a world you could hardly imagine, a world of people living on the edge.

A complete drum and, in all sense, one of the best Iranian films, thanks to the dear Saeed Rustayi for making a good and lasting effect, forever and one day, a flip. It's a lie to remind us of a forgotten class. The buried class is under the rubbish of misery and poverty, and of addiction and dangers, and ....... But the most controversial and, most of all, the most golden, The dialogue is the one where Morteza said loudly to everyone: "Anyone can, and there is no shortage of lesser dogs, every time they go and get back from the dog less, less." This dialogue is tapped in the face of the audience.
I highly recommend this movie to everyone who like to see how an impoverished life can be in the Capital of Iran.

I highly recommend this movie to everyone who like to see how an impoverished life can be in the Capital of Iran. In a world that we all like to see the glory, this movie shows us that there is another side. A side in which you are destined to fight, in a world that you have to stand on your feet. this movie is not a story of love but a story of persons who never found and could find love because of poverty, girls that were beautiful but no one sought them because their family was so poor. Boys who had become addicted because of pain and couldn't get rid of their addiction even when they were trampled under the strains of insults. yes this the story of poverty. this a story of a little smart boy whose only hope within its struggling family is his all-embracing and kind sister who he might lose.

First-Time director Saeid Roustayi captures Iranian culture, the current poverty epidemic that everyday Iranians face from a realistic standpoint. The performances, story and cinematography all allow us a realistic glimpse into this family, whose dealing with many issues. The film touches on a lot of Iranian taboos and cultural fallbacks on a surface level, and delves deep into others. The family business is struggling, one brother is addicted (solid performance from Navid Mohammadzadeh), another sister doesn't marry (big deal in iranian culture), one is divorced, and another plans to be married off to supposedly wealthy Afghan. The main character, portrayed brilliantly by Peyman Moaadi struggles to make wise business and family decisions, and it becomes taxing.
For fans of Iran's realist movement should watch this. I felt like this accurately captured Iranian culture, while also posing vital questions about the situations.

This is an extremely good realistic movie about a family and it's miserable members. If you don't understand Persian language, you may find it little difficult to read the subtitle and keep up the fast moving documentary style visuals at the same time. But, as the film progress, it's amazing, you will get into it completely. Each character is well defined, there is no good or bad, everything is situation driven. This is the reason I love Iranian films so much. Amazing job on the acting as well.

Life + 1 Day is the directorial debut for young screenwriter and director Saeed Roostaei, whose film is well-written and well-crafted with stellar performances from most of the cast. The plot (if you could call it that) is about the youngest girl in a poverty-stricken family in Tehran who's contemplating whether she should leave her family to marry a rich Afghan or to stay with them and continue her mostly-futile attempts to mend her broken family. Her older brother, Morteza, who's a recovering addict urges her to leave, while her younger brother, Mohsen, who's still a user, implores her to stay and not give up on her family.
In my opinion, the film certainly has its moments. In one scene, the two brothers argue over whether Morteza has received money from the Afghan suitor and is supporting the marriage for his own financial gain. The chemistry between Moaadi and Mohammadzadeh is unbelievable, and the dialog fuels the drama in a powerful way.
My problem with Life + 1 Day is two-fold: first, it's structure: the film has divided its attention among all characters, and in doing so, it has spread itself too thin. We see a family of 8 and we are given a glimpse into the life and problems of each and every one. At the end of the day, the film is about all of the characters. I think to do justice to all of them, the film would have needed much more runtime.
My second issue is with the rampant melodrama during the whole film. It's like listening to an opera with the soprano screaming her lungs out the entire piece. I'm not saying the scenarios are contrived or the sequences are not believable. My point is that for the drama to really kick in, you need to have the "downs" as well as the "ups". The characters of this story are constantly screaming, quibbling or shedding tears! There is a sequence, where the family celebrates their youngest brother's remarkable grades or a sequence where they take a family picture together. Sequences like these would've better established the "normal" pace of daily life and then, as a result, the more dramatic sequences would have hit the audiences (especially international ones who may be less familiar with the culture of Iranian families) even harder.
Overall, I'm personally happy with the direction Iran's school of Realism in cinema has taken in recent years and look forward to Roostaei's future films. Afterall, he's only 26. I can't imagine what movies he'll be making by the time he's 40!

I really want to like this movie but I can't. The actings are top-notch. The story is interesting. However, I cannot stand the ambience. It is gloomy and dark from start to finish. Always yelling, arguing, yelling, crying, so on and so forth.
This really makes me think, is this the real daily life in Iran? Where people keep arguing on everything, even on the simple things!
After watching this movie, I feel so tired and on the other hand, I feel lucky not to have these kind of problems.

The acting is just fabulous - I especially loved Payman Moadi, Navid Mohammadzadeh, and Parinaz Izadyar. But I have to say the story was a little too dark for my taste! Towards the end of the movie, I just wanted to bang my head into the wall! And that's why I give it 8 stars. But all in all, wow, just wow!

I didn't like Life +1Day. It isn't a bad film, but it's a passive film. There's a sequence on the film that Somayeh asks from Morteza: "What is Life +1Day?" And Morteza responded her Life +1Day means eternal condemnation without any forgiveness. Also The film Characters have been sentenced to live in this kind of terrible and hopeless life. But the annoying thing is that they don't do any attempt to get out of this kind of living.
The story revolves around Somayeh, She's a kind and selfless girl. She accepted to married with a rich Afghan man (nazir) for his brother Morteza who want to open a new fast food Shop and begin a new life with her lover with the money receive from groom instead of this wedding. Another people in this house (read: life) look at this issue from different angles, and the similarity in their looking is passivity.
Azam left this house Because she wants to end her misery, but she continually returns to this house. But I don't understand why she doesn't help to solve the finance issue of his family even though she receives her husband blood money every month and goes to Dubai and Kish island for entertainment and wants to register for a new expensive car.
Mohsen clearly says he isn't able to leave his addiction and wants to sell more Methamphetamine for paying to Nazir and survive his sister from this unwilling arranged marriage.
Shahnaz think about the money that she wants to receive from a person who injured the face of her son, because she can rent a new house near this house (read: this life) by this blood money.Maybe she decided to come back home for the lack of her absent husband.
Leila already has determined their fate and she sees their future like Azam , Shanaz, or thousands girls that only reason of their marriage is fear of remaining without husband.
Also there is passive treatment in mother behavior. She hides some Methamphetamine to give to Mohsen for selling it and handle his expenses.
And Morteza is the most dangerous person. In another sequence on the film he said:" everyone who stay in this home is dog, and everyone go and come back is less than dog." But he doesn't try to leave this home and wants to send Somayeh to Afghanestan and Mohsen to camp, because he decides to start a new life in this home with his lover.

'We all die one day, don't worry, no one has ever been left alive". Life + 1 day is about dysfunctional, shattered family who are overwhelmed by fear as the youngest daughter of the family is getting married. The characters come to life through the dialogue, confrontations, and realistic situations. The acting was very raw and impressive. This heart-wrenching drama is a must see.

Perhaps you will find that in the beginning the movie has so fast dialogues. And it continues through out all of the movie. So if you are foreigner (like me ) you will find difficult to catch all from the subtitles and perhaps you will say not worth to see. But if you insist, sooner or later you will start to understand the beauty of the movie. It needs to see at least one more time to start seeing all the surrounding that you missed first time by looking at the subtitles. The characters are so good in their roles! The photography unbelievable! you will enjoy seeing it again the next day. I had years to see a such moving movie.

"Life and a day" is a recurring story heard that repeatedly by other filmmaker's sense making a feature film. this film is the first time Saeed Roostaee made his long movie, considering that,this could be a pleasing accident to the Iranian's cinema. making fast, quick but effective rhythms which fits exactly right in the action of switching between dark and hopeful themes of the camera , with nice Decoupaged Miseenscenes turned this dark drama even more comfortable and attractive to watch. considerable act of Parinaz Izadyar as the character of Somayeh, transfers the true concept of her role on the scenario as the second mother of the family, the origin of kindness which brings hope to a poor family and balances the tragic power of film by proposing a solution to the major disappointing scenes , armed with every kind of art to brings his theory to the every edge of director's frame. so if you have some time and you're ready to feel some impressing drama , here you are.

We did not experience. We only appeared as a viewer.
It was not necessary to be same like that because it was perceptible and tangible for almost every kind of audience.
It's as if somewhere near us is happening or has already happened.
We laughed, we cried and judged, as a viewer. Anger effect was certain.
When the film came to an end, need for free space and review step by step of the movie, complete a significant movie effect.
As for the characters in the story, it's enough that the audience finally concludes that, despite the apparent faults of the characters, no one is to blame and all the faults should be left to fate.
All characters are a function of the conditions.
But I think that, beyond these reactions, the demand for the film was something else.
The film asked us to make an identification instead of judging.
Asked us to understand what the dangers of the crowded family are struggling with poverty.
The film asked us to hear the words of Mohsen (Navid Mohammadzadeh), despite the fact that audience translated he is an abnormal obscurity brutish in the first place.
But
Pain of not understand. A misunderstanding of past generations that portrays itself in the form of a crowded family, to show abnormalities that the family faces today, and to portray itself as a extremist, conservative, and fearless personality.
Laughter sequences from the bottom and crying from the bottom in the cinema had a confusing atmosphere that showed real effect.
The film's cinematic experience was specific to one of the spectators in the last quarter continued with a cigarette.
Others were melting in a way that someone did not attention to an angry viewer and his cigarette's bad smell.

The plot of this movie covers many taboos in Iranian culture with a skilful story. The story of survival of a family of A mother( very sick, old
and in need of assistance for survival) a widow daughter, another divorced daughter another daughter who has no suitor , another daughter who is about to marry to start a life an addict son and another desperate son . The only ray of hope if the youngest son who is smart. They all live in poverty and in the same rundown house. The youngest daughter who is getting married I the only sensible, responsible person in the household and everyone is freaking out, since they are miserably dependent on her.
Plot combines this relationship perfectly. Performance of the main characters ( Peyman maadi as Moteza, Ms. Parinaz Izadyar as Somaye, and Navid Mohammadzade as Mohsen) is fantastic. The plot depicts the poverty, dis function , taboos, treatment of the women as the subversive persons, superbly. This is a must see movie.h.

It is his day and forever, he has not paid homage to anyone and has not blindly imitated the best of this genre. Rural directing skills are based on his writing experiences, which is why we are on the side of a film that has good acting, is accurate and detailed in its sequences, but its script needs to be retouched. There are two or three more important characters in the film, and the rest have something to say in their own way, but they all revolve around themselves from the beginning to the end of the film and make very little effort to advance the story. The situations they create are spectacular, but if we remove them, nothing happens to the main body of the story. Saeed Roustaei can envision a very bright future if he can fill these gaps in his later work and, in addition to keeping the quality of directing high, write a tighter, more structured script.
