As noted above, the first film adaptation of "Anne of Green Gables" (1919) starred Mary Miles Minter
Mary Miles Minter, who was 17 years old at the time of her portrayal of Anne. What's not mentioned is that Mary Miles Minter fell in love with her director in that film, William Desmond Taylor, who was thirty years older than Ms. Minter. In 1922, Minter was involved in scandal surrounding Taylor's murder. Gossip implicated Ms. Minter's mother and, although no charges were filed, Mary Miles Minter's reputation was stained, and she tarnished, and she gave up her movie career shortly thereafter.

Goofs
Multiple scenes depicting Anne from behind show clearly that her pinafore and her dress are a single piece, with the buttons from her dress continuing onto the pinafore. In this time period, the pinafore was a separate piece worn over the dress to keep it clean. It was never attached to the dress so it could be easily changed when soiled.

Anne with an E is exactly the show that we need in our world today. It deals with all kinds of important topics such as residential schools, women's rights, black history, and the LGBTQ community. It does so in an heart warming, educational, and kid friendly manner. Anne with an E is also brilliantly made in every department from casting to costume design to cinematography. It is a fabulous Canadian show that everyone show that everyone should watch
