During a screening at the True/False Film Festival the film had to be stopped for nearly ten minutes while local police escorted two people from the cinema. The two were allegedly private investigators who had been spotted trying to record the film with a device hidden in a coffee cup.

A number of subjects from the film attended a screening and Q&A with co-director Dylan Reeve in Los Angeles. The very unusual Q&A was streamed live on Facebook and involved legal threats and warnings of potential criminal charges for the filmmakers by the film's subjects.

David D'Amato died very suddenly in the year after the documentary premiered, in March 2017. The film director's posted a statement on their web site that they were "incredibly sad" to learn of it. No information on his death has been published.
