Matthew Lillard is adding an upbeat charm to the cast of "The Good Wife" by playing the role of Rowby Canton. Rowby is a music artist who gets his inspiration from anything and anyone and is now being inspired by the charming Lucca Quinn. Rowby is being sued by his former Record Label who insist that Rowby broke his contract by using a song that they claim was written when he was still under contract with them. Rowby claims that he is innocent of all allegations and therefore is legally in the right to play his song on social media networks. Alicia and Lucca team up with Cary to defend Rowby against the record label that is bullying him. In the meantime Eli is trying to unsuccessfully make amends with Alicia. Written by Lisa Martinez

A perfect example of why The Good Wife needed to end
20 July 2019 | by benm-41751See all my reviews

The Good Wife is an amazing show overall, but this episode is an example of why the show needed to end-or maybe should have ended at Season 6.

Most of the episode is dedicated to Rowby, who was already a grating character the first time he appeared on the show but only gets worse the more we are expected to watch him. The other plotlines of the episode are inconsequential to anything else in the series and thus are pointless. For example, watching David, Diane, and Cary fumble to poach clients from Alicia.. there was nothing exciting about that, and nothing interesting came of it either.

Even though the show has always relied on serialized stories from the cases covered, what made it worth watching from one episode to the next was the progression of the characters and the behind-the-scenes dramas taking place. At this point the court scenes feel like if one were to really turn up to a courtroom and watch strangers acting out dry cases, but with just enough nonsense to remove any educational side of things.

Luckily the show did end after this season. I'd just advise anyone watching the show for the first time to be aware that Seasons 6 and 7 are not on par with the quality of earlier seasons, and not knowing this already might be disappointing to discover.
