Superhero fiction is more popular than ever these days, and that extends to anime. There have been several successful superhero anime series in the past decade or so, including the likes of My Hero Academia, One-Punch Man and even Tiger & Bunny. There was another such title in this number from the mid 2010s, but it wasn't nearly as successful -- namely due to its narrative.
Studio Bones' Concrete Revolutio was a fairly experimental superhero anime from 2015, based on a manga that began publication in the same year. Colorful, bright and incredibly unique, it was more than just a cheap redress of typical Western-style superhero fiction. Unfortunately, it also fell into a trap seen in superhero comics of the 1990s, mistaking confusion and faux complexity for depth. This is the main reason why it's still so divisive, and thus rather forgotten.
