Trivia

Before it's full release in 2015, a short demo of Undertale(the tutorial stage) was sent exclusively to a gaming site and received mostly positive reviews, and the demo became public soon after. A Kickstarter campaign began to help fund Toby's work, and received over ten times the target goal, and the runtime of Undertale extended to three times the intended 2 hour playthrough. See more »

UNDERTALE the masterpiece that got ruined
30 November 2018 | by gandalfloverSee all my reviews

Undertale! I'm sure someone reading this is sick of hearing it, its because the internet made it inescapable, however I dont think its fair to rate it because of that. so I will try to look at what the game IS not what it DID.

let me break it down:

1. The story NO SPOILERS: boiled down, simple and I like simple (star wars is a great example for this) youve got your twists (yes... twists.... kind of......?), multiple paths and choices that will affect the outcome of the game, I like that because you dont see that anywhere nowadays (mostly).

2. Gameplay: well... its more of an 'if you like this than yes' situation, its solid sure but if you dont like bullet hells than this might not be your favourite part... other than that, the overworld gameplay works sure you cant run which is kind of frustrating at times, but only if you choose to play it again.

3. Music: I can say this; toby fox is great with music! tracks like 'his theme', 'spider dance' and 'DUMMY!' are just a few examples of how great the music is in my opinion.

4. conclusion: the game itself is in my opinion a masterpiece(?) (unless you think graphics are important than its close to it), the characters are funny but serious when needed, the music is great, the replay value is high the story never really gets old. you can choose whatever you want, kill that one but not that one will give you a different ending, and I love it, of course I wont give it a 10/10 because nothing is perfect. I can name two things why its not one, being the internet ruining it and the graphics, but other than that I strongly recommend it for the prise given. which I was sceptical about at first, because of the length the game has and no end game content, but the replay value is great. so if you consider buying it I highly recomend it.
