Storyline

Director Chris Weitz's historical thriller is based on the story of how a group of Israeli secret agents arrested notorious SS officer Adolf Eichmann - the man who masterminded the "Final Solution" - in Argentina. Oscar Isaac plays the legendary Mossad agent Peter Malkin, while Ben Kingsley plays his emotionally manipulative arch-nemesis. After tracking Eichmann down to Buenos Aires, Malkin and his men captured him and brought him to Israel for a historic 8-month trial.

Trivia

Sir Ben Kingsley plays Nazi Adolf Eichmann. In Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story (1989), he played Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal. Although not mentioned in the movie, the real Wiesenthal was actually involved in Eichman's capture. He passed on claims that Eichmann had been spotted in Buenos Aires to the Israeli consulate in Vienna. He later arranged for private detectives to take pictures of Adolf's brother Otto at the funeral of their father, as no current pictures of Adolf were available and Otto bore a strong resemblance to his brother. Goofs

In the first 15 minutes, there is a gathering of Nazi fans in Buenos Aires. One of them claims to be on the 150th anniversary year of Argentina independence. However, 1960, the year the movie is set, it was the anniversary of the Revolution of 1810, and not the Independence anniversary (1816). See more »

An Incredible True Story
30 August 2018 | by grobertjonesSee all my reviews

Operation Finale is a somber film about the plan to kidnap Adolph Eichmann. As you no doubt know, Eichmann was the architect of the Final Solution...the killing of 6 million Jews. We're taken inside the planning of the kidnapping and implementation of the plan. There isn't a great deal of action, but the character development is outstanding. Lovers of history will thoroughly enjoy this true story.
