Storyline

Director Chris Weitz's historical thriller is based on the story of how a group of Israeli secret agents arrested notorious SS officer Adolf Eichmann - the man who masterminded the "Final Solution" - in Argentina. Oscar Isaac plays the legendary Mossad agent Peter Malkin, while Ben Kingsley plays his emotionally manipulative arch-nemesis. After tracking Eichmann down to Buenos Aires, Malkin and his men captured him and brought him to Israel for a historic 8-month trial.

Goofs

In the opening credits, a hand (presumably Eichmann's) is shown pushing pins into a map indicating the names/locations of concentration camps and major European cities where Jews were captured. One of the pins is marked "Vienna". However, since this is a German map they should have used the German name for Vienna, which is "Wien". See more »

Quotes

David Ben-Gurion: Our memory reaches back through recorded history. The book of memory still lies open. And you here now are the hand that holds the pen. If you succeed, for the first time in our history we will judge our executioner. And we will warn off any who wishes to follow his example. If you fail, he escapes justice, perhaps forever. I beg you. Do not fail.

Movies can never portray history that's already filmed.
5 October 2018 | by apjcSee all my reviews

I've seen some great documentary films concerning the characters, story and consequences of this film. Don't bother with this it's not entertaining or instructive, it's a little disturbing as to why it was done, movies aren't made to lose money. Watch the documentaries made with archive footage, but especially the trial. Only Eichman can play Eichman to full effect. Banality of evil doesn't do justice to this man, he knew he was dead. His face and demeanour through out the trial was the untermensch had won.
