Storyline

The Witcher is an American fantasy drama web television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix. It is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The Witcher follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than monsters and beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a special gift, the three must learn to navigate independently the increasingly volatile Continent. Trivia

Geralt's iconic bathtub scene from the Witcher video games was partially recreated by Henry Cavill as shown in the trailer. In the games, the scene shows Geralt half-naked lounging in a bathtub and was famous for its risque humor. Cavill's version also shows him lounging shirtless in a bath with his muscular physique on full display. The scene after premiering in the trailer drew a lot of positive buzz and commentary online as it brought together fans of the games, books and Cavill together for the fan favorite moment. Netflix and series creator Lauren Hissrich joked that the bathtub scene was now part of the official canon (even though the series is based on the books and not the games). See more »

Henry Cavill was terrific!
18 December 2020 | by DiCaprio-HardyFanSee all my reviews

I didn't really know what to expect from The Witcher having never played the games or read the books but I'm a big Henry Cavill fan and saw the high ratings so I thought I'd give it a chance and I'm so glad that I did because I really liked it! It seems to me that most of the negative reviews are from people either comparing it to the games or books (which you shouldn't, just take it for what it is) or from bots from competing streaming services that rate everything Netflix does low. They say things like "another Netflix bomb" or something like that even though Netflix has had more Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy, etc. nominations than any other company on the planet. Henry Cavill was absolutely fantastic as the lead as was the rest of the cast too!
