Quotes

Stefan Pokorny: Nothing in the world ever gets done rationally. You gotta be just a little bit nuts and prepared to just go full throttle and try to make it the greatest you can; whether you fail or succeed. A meeker heart will be, 'that's insanity' and that person will never do anything great. The fear of failure is hard. Survival is not guaranteed in this game.

The Best D&D Documentary Yet...
22 September 2016 | by sculptliveSee all my reviews

Let's face it, Dungeons & Dragons, and the games playing culture that comes with it, is rather fringe, weird, and misunderstood. Some attempts to present D&D gamers in film have been tried before, but few are honest, clear, or make any meaningful impact when watched. This piece, directed by Josh Bishop (also see 'Made in Japan'), succeeds by instead focusing on the life of one unique D&D player, Stefan Pokorny. It takes an honest tour of his journey as a successful creator of D&D aftermarket products, and through that same bold honesty, illuminates the wider world of the gaming hobby he serves and lives in with better clarity and meaning than previous directors were able to. Films that explore the underbelly of the fantasy gaming culture are rare enough to find. This one is unique in it's ability to show you something new, and to make you care.
