It's a shame really. The first movie came out of nowhere and made an impact. At least in the south of Germany, where this is supposedly set it. And if you're familiar with the way people talk there and how they behave, it was like the "Big fat Swabian Church" movie you got served. In fact it was so popular it spawned a TV show (yes, same thing happened with Big Fat Greek Wedding too).
While I haven't seen the sequel to the Wedding movie nor either of the TV shows, I did see this sequel and it did leave me with a bitter and disappointed feeling behind. It's a shame, because you get many of the characters you came to love from the first movie, the tone seems to be kept, but it doesn't bode as well as the first one. Seems like even with similar ingredients you can't cook up the same excellent dish ... or maybe we got spoiled the first time around ...
