On an ordinary day in bustling downtown Madrid, life ticks over as usual, while inside a decrepit and noisy central bar, a motley assortment of common urbanites is killing time indolently, up until a loud gunshot sends chills down the spine. Out of the blue, now a man lies dead in front of the bar in a pool of blood, and then surprisingly, in broad daylight, another death follows. Where did that mysterious lethal bullet come from? Is this an act of terrorism or is there a solitary invisible sniper hidden on a roof? As hysteria prevails and the bodies miraculously vanish into thin air, the perplexed and terrified bar's regulars are bound to turn on each other, paranoid and suspicious of the potential assassin who might be hiding inside the place. Is there indeed a wolf among sheep? Written by Nick Riganas

Did You Know?

One of the films that appear in the TV while the people in the bar look for the news is William Castle's House on Haunted Hill (1959), a film in which strangers are trapped in a (supposedly) haunted house. In The Bar, the strangers are trapped in a bar. Another coincidence is the number of people: in The Bar, there are nine people inside the building. In House on Hauted Hill, there are five guests, but counting the hosts and servants, there are also nine people inside the building. See more »

Not bad

I don't know exactly what I expected of this movie... I chose to see it as I mostly like Spanish movies as they are kinda weird and original. This one can be said it is weird and original, but something was missing...

First half of the movie I had a feeling I am watching a piece of theater. Also, I had a feeling I am watching some of those Spanish telenovelas. I see people say it is dark comedy but I did not find anything funny or laughable - well, maybe some unprobable scenes.

The last 20 minutes of the film are the most interesting.

As for the theme of the film, I think it is told in a rather not good way. And also, the people are reacting way too ...dramatic in non believable way...

I get what they wanted to say with this movie - but I do not think they said it well.

6 from me.

p.s. The intro to the film was kinda creepy.
