Truth finding

When we lose someone close to us - we need and we want closure. We want certain things answered. Sometimes just how that important person was ... but also how others interacted with him. Now this drama is as slow paced as they come. And it has so many different feelings it does convey.

The question is how much you can suspend your disbelief. The movie is flawed throughout - yet if the theme hits home you might not care that much about that.

No soup eating, but long silences...

It has been a long, long time since I haven't watched such a piece of pompous nothing. As a Romanian, I might be more lenient in judgement, but as a film lover I can only regret the time spent watching it. This film is unconvincing in everything: script, dialogues, acting, ending, etc. Not even good actors such as Vlad Ivanov or Adrian Titieni can turn it into an acceptable movie. Long takes revealing nothing much, long silences of the protagonists, revealing even less, dialogues uttered in such a way that makes them almost impossible to understand. Incomprehensible reactions, switches of scene motivated in an unfathomable conception of the director... And the young man playing the main character seems to be doing his best to avoid any relevance to the situations he's going through. All in all, 109 minutes that can be spent any other way!

Perfectly Healthy

According to me the actors provide a very good performance!

The last two weeks of my life I've experienced the rather sudden deaths of three loved ones.

Given these recent events, I apparently stood more open than usual for feelings & emotions that are extremely loud if one is confronted with death such as Andrei (one of the main characters).

But, most of the times during this movie, these feelings & emotions are conveyed in silence.

The fact that I opened, hopefully makes me "perfectly healthy", just like the characters in this story, and guessing that "perfectly healthy is a correct translation in English of "perfect sãnãtos".

Still, I think there might be a big difference between Dutch culture and Romanian culture.

I wouldn't be surprised that the average Romanian is much less of an extrovert and direct, than the average native Dutch person.

I do wonder though, whether this also applies to "ordinary situations" such as loosing loved ones, that are most probably pretty emotional in any culture. In Dutch culture people turn silent and into themselves as well in those situations.

Anyway, while watching this movie, I felt a comforting pain, where in the end the comfort exceeded the pain into a sense of purification; hence, perfectly healthy.

I hope you'll experience something similar.

So, if you're in need for such an experience, take your time to watch this move and ... be open and patient.
