France Engulfed in a Toxic Cloud in Dans La Brume (aka Just a Breath Away) [Trailer]

In the new french disaster film, Dans la Brume (aka Just a Breath Away), a family attempts to survive a massive, apocalyptic catastrophe in Paris.

In the tense film, a severe earthquake knocks the power out across all of Paris in the near future, releasing a large scale toxic and fatal plume from under the city. In the aftermath 99% of the human population in city is killed leaving on high apartment uncontaminated.

The first trailer is available for the film directed by Daniel Roby and it looks great.

Dans la Brume just had its debut at Fantasia Film Festival.

French Thriller ‘Just A Breath Away’ Acquired By Gravitas Ventures Ahead Of Fantasia Fest Bow
Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to Just a Breath Away (Dans la brume), the French-language apocalyptic thriller directed by Daniel Roby and starring Romain Duris and Olga Kurylenko.

The deal was struck just ahead of its North American debut later tonight as the opening film of the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, and a 2019 theatrical release is in the works.

Duris and Kurylenko play parents who are desperately trying to save their daughter from a deadly toxic mist that has engulfed Paris after an earthquake. Only those lucky enough to escape to the rooftops of the city were able to survive; their daughter, who suffers from a genetic condition requiring her to live in a hermetic box that filters the air, is trapped below.

Besides managing Lady Gaga in Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” remake (out October 5), this year Sam Elliott will star in another movie that sounds original in every way. “The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then he Bigfoot” will have its world premiere this July at the Fantasia International Film Festival. Writer-director Robert Kryzkowski’s first feature — executive produced by twice-Oscar-nominated screenwriter John Sayles — casts Elliott as a WWII veteran who American and Canadian cops send to slay a plague-riddled beast.

A full line-up for Montreal’s annual celebration of horror/sci-fi/action cinema is forthcoming on June 28, but festival organizers have released the names of several notable entries from its 22nd program. Daniel Roby's apocalyptic thriller Just a Breath Away (Dans la brume), starring Romain Duris and Olga Kurylenko as parents saving their family from a deadly toxic mist over Paris, is set to open the Fantasia Film Festival.

North America's largest genre film festival, which unveiled new lineup titles on Thursday, also announced world premieres for the Sam Elliot starrer The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot, from producer John Sayles and director Robert Krzykowski; Rusty Cundieff and Darin Scott's Tales From the Hood 2; and Satoshi Miki's Louder! TF1 Studio has announced brisk business on French action-disaster thriller Just A Breath Away, starring Romain Duris and Olga Kurylenko as a couple caught up in a race against time to get their sick talk daughter to safety after an earthquake hits Paris.

The film has sold to Germany (Splendid Medien), Spain (Avalon), Switzerland (Pathé), Belgium (Distri7), Russia (Top Film), Turkey (Ozen Film), Poland (Monolith), Central Europe (Prorom), Latin America (All Media Distribution), Japan (Ccc), South Korea (Cine Lux), Taiwan (Applause), China (Turbo Film), Singapore (Shaw Organisation), Indonesia (MoxieNotion) and Vietnam (Skyline).

Mars Films is gearing up to release the film in France this April. It is produced by Intouchables producer Nicolas Duval (Quad Productions) alongside Guillaume Colboc (Section 9), Guillaume Lemans (Esprits Frappeurs) and Christian Larouche (Christal Films).
