MPAA Rated PG for some mild thematic elements and brief action

Sex & Nudity

  • The children are seen in their underwear before a bath, but the garments are more modest than they would be today and not that different to summer outer clothes such as t-shirts and shorts.
  • A song tells the story of a woman that only wore 'two feathers and a leaf'. Mary and Jack gesture where they would've been worn by using their hats.
  • A song about two trees contains some very mild innuendos, such as 'Now there's seedlings everywhere'.
  • Ellen notices Jane speaking with Jack the lamplighter and says 'Looks like he's lit her up as well'.

Violence & Gore

  • The children briefly fight over their mother's bowl. No injuries result, but the bowl is cracked.

  • One use of 'bloody'.
  • The Admiral makes a few grumpy remarks about Big Ben supposedly ringing too early.
  • One use of 'blasted'.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The "Edge Of Bowl" scene can frighten young children.
  • The leeries climb up the outside of Big Ben, which is quite perilous.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The theme of the children having lost their mother and the family facing the possibility of being evicted from their home can be emotional.
