In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael's three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Did You Know?
Unlike MARY POPPINS (1964), this film (or all its live-action footage) was shot in the story's indigenous English setting, with natural outdoors; whereas the 1964 original was an entirely indoors film (i.e., even outdoors were shot in the Disney Studio sound stages in Burbank. Similarly, at the same time the 1964 MARY POPPINS was being filmed in Burbank, the other 1912-English set musical, MY FAIR LADY, was likewise being filmed in the sound stages of rival Warner Brothers Studio in nearby Glendale. So the close-knit band of "English-type" Hollywood actors, were doubly busy during that summer-fall season of 1963). The post-production work for this new film, however, was mainly done in Hollywood.
