The gaslights used in the movie are all naked flames. By the 1930s, gaslights used mantles, which gave off a lot more light for less gas and didn't smoke the glass covers. Also, gaslights were largely controlled by clockwork (still used in historic areas today in London and other European cities), so the leeries' main job would have been maintenance: mantle replacement and winding the clockwork rather than daily lighting/dousing. This is profoundly one of the years very best pictures! It is filled with pure bliss and the magic Disney has been aiming to possess is finally here and even better than expected. It is a genuine musical with great tunes and fun, poppy, meaningful lyrics that help tell the meaning of the story. Emily Blunt is outstanding and exceptional in this role as Mary Poppins, she makes the character her own and knocks it right out of the ball park with her excellent vocals and range! What a cast! The entire ensemble does an outstanding job working together and that is really how this film works is because of each meaning the character has to the story. Last but definitely not least, Rob Marshall does a fantastic job directing the entire film, there is no one else who could have revived the magic disney once had. I expect it to get nominated at the Academt Awards for Best Picture, Actress, Director and more! We should also expect to see Emily Blunt wins Best Actress at the Golden Globes and more! Extremely impressed and planning to see it in theatres for a second time. Highly recommend to see Christmas Weekend!
