The Shining Sequel, Doctor Sleep, Has a Stellar Cast - Get Some Shut-Eye While You Can

Audiences are heading back to the Overlook Hotel. Warner Bros. confirmed a while back that it would be adapting Stephen King's Doctor Sleep, the sequel to his hugely successful and very terrifying The Shining. Ewan McGregor stars as Danny Torrance, while Rebecca Ferguson will portray the villain, Rose the Hat.

In Doctor Sleep, Danny is still dealing with the aftermath of the events that took place at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. Now an adult, Danny uses his psychic abilities to comfort patients at a small-town hospice. The plot really picks up, however, with the discovery of a group that preys on young people who also possess psychic powers, and who are after one girl in particular.

Mike Flanagan, who previously worked on Gerald's Game, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Hush, is also on board as the director. So, yeah, this should be terrifying as hell.

‘Doctor Sleep’ First Trailer: ‘The Shining’ Sequel Torments Ewan McGregor

‘Doctor Sleep’ First Trailer: ‘The Shining’ Sequel Torments Ewan McGregor
Few movies carry the weight of expectations this year as “Doctor Sleep,” the upcoming Stephen King adaptation from horror maestro Mike Flanagan. The film is a sequel to “The Shining” and casts Ewan McGregor as an adult Danny Torrence. Considering Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 “Shining” adaptation is considered one of the best horror movies ever made, there’s a lot of pressure on “Doctor Sleep” to deliver terror later this year.

Doctor Sleep” picks up with Danny tormented from the events of childhood. The character is an alcoholic whose supernatural “shining” abilities reawaken when he tries to get sober. Danny’s journey gets complicated (and scary) when he meets a young girl who shares his gifts while working at a hospice center. Joining McGregor in the cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Carl Lumbly, and Alex Essoe.

Following Kubrick’s “The Shining” is certainly no easy task, but horror fans should feel confident with Flanagan behind the camera.

Batman: Arkham Knight Identity Revealed in Detective Comics

Jim Dandy May 20, 2019

Detective Comics #1004 reveals a very different origin for Batman villain, the Arkham Knight.

You would be forgiven for throwing a little eye roll at Detective Comics when you heard that the main Batman villain of the latest arc would be the Arkham Knight. After all, very rarely do ideas that start in other mediums translate all that well to comics. Also, the Arkham Knight is...already spoken for in main DC continuity..

You would be forgiven for it, but you would also be wrong for doing so. First, as we’ve discussed several times before, DC’s track record on comics adaptations is shockingly good. The various Injustice books have been fun, while the Mortal Kombat lead in books have been worthwhile additions to the series and the Arkham Knight adaptation book was high quality. Additionally, the Arkham Knight adaptation was written by Peter Tomasi, who is

The “Hush” story line however is one that delves into Batman’s past in a way that entangles quite a few individuals that he’s dealt with over the years and takes on a very personal note that crosses the line between
