I'm Brazilian and I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS MOVIE! The comedy can be a little strange at times, but most of the time it's good. The idea is brilliant, I've never seen a film with the same plot, which is difficult nowadays. I cried laughing the first time I saw it, and even though I've seen it several times, it's not as funny as the first time, but I've never gotten sick of watching it. You are very bitter, who said French people can't do comedy? Have you ever watched "A Haunted House 2"? It's way worse. If you didn't like the comedy, then it's just not for you, because French people know how to make films.
Do french find this movie funny? It was literally torture and painfull to watch. It could have been much, much better, idea was great and (legendly) some scenes were really, really hard to make in this movie, it looked realistic. It was all in vain since its a comedy, but i couldnt laugh Not. One. Bit. Terrible movie.
I had the opportunity to get a speech from the filmmaker (I went to the preview in Lyon) who indicated that some scenes weren't shot with a green screen. Knowing well this highway I trust him but not so much about the real speed (what's absolutely understandable according to stunts these actors accepted to do) ! This is doubtless the funnier movie of Nicolas Benamou but he has the merit to put successfully some scenes where we didn't expect to see them and to made the whole audience laugh.
I think my rate is not so high because some actors were not convincing enough and some clichés should have been enhanced further.
N.B. : some scenes are a bit violent (a child less than 10 left during one of them) ... so please avoid him that if yours is likely to have nightmares.

Not funny, but a torture. Low intelligence humour similar to Taxi series. It's hard to believe that French people like this.
I don't get the Francophobic comments. Alright, it ain't great but nor is it despicable. For starters, the premise is ideal for the kind of movie it is - an accelerated version of National Lampoon's Chevy Chase led series, with less gravitas and less authentic humour, but still enough of entertainment.
I watched it on RAI, dubbed in Italian, so the inevitable loss of word play or "solely for the French" stuff did not really make the experience unbearable. I could have switched to something better maybe, in case there was one, but no, this one earned the kind of attention to keep this viewer till the end.
Even though it got too slapstick at times, the story was solid in its own right. No loose ends were left, except for the totally ignored story of that teen girl whom they picked up on the road. (Why had her mother left her like that? Did someone edit that part down?).
I'm pretty sure a Hollywood version of that script can do wonders. Not only because the kind of higher-level stunts and more complicated camera work would embellish the visual aspects (just imagine "Speed" meeting with "Road Trip"!) but also because the vast roads of the USA can provide much more interesting side-stories and characters.
Yeah. Some Hollywood person better do it. It would rock to the world of crazy comedies as James Cameron's "True Lies" (based on an original French movie) had rocked the action/adventure/comedy genre back in its day.
