I write this only to spare your time. Also most likely SPOILERS.
OccamsBarber4 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I do believe this is the first review I have ever made on IMDb. As I know next to nothing about what goes into making a film I usually stick to the comments and leave the reviewing to people how do know something of the art.

But...

I watch a lot of movies. And I watch a lot of bad movies. I like, and on occasion love, bad movies. So believe me this film has almost nothing to recommend it on any level.

In it's favour I will say it didn't look overly cheap as far as the filming went. It looked better than you would expect given the rest of its shortcomings.

Also in terms of bad movie positives it contains a scene with what is the worst delivered monologue I have ever seen. Monologue isn't quite the right word but it is the only lines this character has and to call the delivery wooden would be sparkling praise. ALMOST worth seeing for that.

The two women might be considered attractive to some and one with generic brand implants is naked for a short scene and the other nude for half a second. That might be a plus for those without the internet.

Beyond that it is not good enough or bad enough to be worth watching. Just bleh. And to top it all off they appear to have run out of money and just ended the movie at a random point.

Admittedly this seems to be part of a series. Maybe, somehow, my opinion would be altered if I had seen it/them. With luck I will never be bored enough to find out.

Reading a review like this I would probably be egged on to see for myself. Please just think that I was moved, for the first time, to say DON'T.

wtf happened at the end
alanlord7318 March 2016
just watched this movie expecting it to be like one of the classic 70s horror movies as advertised on the DVD sleeve and enjoyed it tongue in cheek up to the finale, yeh some of the characters seemed underdeveloped and the main protagonist history was unexplained but the main thing that pee-ed me off was in the final part the film seemed to run out of steam and was cut off in the final minutes leaving a very unsatisfying and abrupt end as if the creaters of this had run out of ideas HOW TO END THIS AND GAVE UP, watchable until the end, don't watch this unless you enjoy scratching your head and wondering why you spent £6 quid in Asda.

Playing with Dolls Bloodlust: Did the editor forget to add the ending?
Platypuschow4 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Playing With Dolls (2015) was pretty bad, starring Richard Tyson and telling the story of a psycho intentionally released from psychiatric care by an unscrupulous group who wanted to make a business out his murders.

The killer looked great but the film itself was a bit of a mess.

This sequel is essentially the same. Richard Tyson: Check Great looking killer: Check Crappy film: Check This one however was en-route to being better, it has its moments but dies a death in the closing moments and the reason is quite astonishing.

The final showdown is taking place, our main protagonist is battling the villain were about halfway through the fight and *Drumroll* the credits begin. That's right, the movie has no ending. It's like the editor forgot to add the finale and it's left laying on the editing floor.

I'm not going to say its a great shame, even with a decent ending this would hardly be a good film but the fact the movie was released in this state shocks me beyond words.

The Good:

Killer still looks badass

The Bad:

Cast are pretty damn bad

Kills are weak Where is the ending?

Things I Learnt From This Movie:

Boobs are to the killer as crucifix's are to vampires

Worst Horror Movie Ever
Icemann316PCW13 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is perhaps the worst horror movie I've ever seen in my life; It just may be the worst film I've ever watched, period. From the opening scene you could tell the acting was going to be horrible, and the ending kills off any redeeming quality and good will this movie may have earned on the way.

This movie was so bad that with 10 minutes left to go, I decided to come to IMDb and rate it a 3, which was an extremely generous rating. Then the ending happened (or didn't happen rather) and I had to change my rating to a 1 and quickly toss up a review because I have that much contempt for this film. I'll never get the time I spent watching this movie back, and I may just hate this movie forever.

Worst movie ever
ffsviljoen10 February 2016
This is by far the worst movie I have ever seen, from start to ending. I don't see how this could have been released in the first place. I hope this isn't going to set the trend for horror movies in 2016. Me and a bunch of my friends could have made a better movie in our back yard loll! Just how bad is it? Well take it like this....... I have never written a comment or review about a movie before. no matter how good or bad a movie is. But in this case, I just can't contain my disgust, it's just that bad, don't watch it. Iv'e never been so upset about having wasted my time before. unbelievable. Sheez. I also feel sorry for the actors in this movie, if they thought this was going to make them famous.

Don't watch, absolute dirt
ruairisean4 February 2016
I don't even want to waste time and energy to review this awful film, sufficed to say, the acting was bad, the script terrible, the whole thing terrible, i skipped through most of it, and discovered that at the end, instead of having an ending, its just ends, almost like they ran out of money to shoot the final scenes, just ends,mid-scene, just ends. Again, awful film, predictable dirt. I have to have a minimum of ten lines apparently to review, anywho as i was saying, do not watch this, unless you like terribly bad horror, bad acting and the like, I feel almost bad for the actors who may have thought they were doing something presentable, though as soon as they read the scripts they should have known not to do it. Also one girl was totally just cast for her huge breast implants, and when she takes her bra off we see it was a botch job, just awful.

Worst. Movie. Ever.
fitz_31630 September 2016
This is my first review (and probably my last on IMDb). I don't typically take the time to write written reviews because 1. what weight does my opinion hold and 2. every opinion on anything subjective should be taken with a grain of salt. However, after watching this movie I felt compelled to say something. I am a horror fanatic. I love horror (specifically 80's horror films and B horror films). The cheesier, the better. That being said, this movie was a travesty in film making. This is, by far, the worst acted film I've ever seen. The audio was awful, as if they had only one boom mic for the entire room in every shot so some of the lines were completely inaudible and others were as if someone was screaming in your ear. There was absolutely zero plot development. No character development. One of the worst scripts I've ever sat through. Nonsensical event/line and another. I just don't know where it stops. Everything about this film is horrible. It almost seems as if somebody made a bet with somebody who had no experience in film saying "I bet with $20,000 you couldn't write, produce or direct your own film". Normally, I'm a very forgiving critic but this is one special film. Avoid it at all costs. I wish I could get that 60+ minutes back from my life but unfortunately that's impossible. Oh, and the ending? I won't spoil it but suffice to say it ends mid-shot of the climax (for whatever reason) as if they ran out of film and said "Oh well we've got enough, that's a wrap people". Rene Perez should be banned from ever doing anything in show business ever again.

An Honest Review
generationofswine9 July 2019
Perez really likes Tyson doesn't he? And honestly I am kind of starting to come around to Perez, he's enjoyable when you want to absolutely roast something...and fives you ample opportunity to rip most of what he does apart.

What you have here is the cabin in the woods story complete with the attractive 20 somethings. However it misses the comedy that Sam Raimi would have added to it to make it unique. It misses the T&A that other directors would have added to it to make it watchable. And it misses the sadism and over-the-top gore that yet others would have added to it to make it even more watchable.

So what you have is a dull, poorly written, poorly executed horror movie with, of all people, Richard Tyson attempting to carry the weight. And honestly he's done it a few times in Perez films... just not this one.

I don't what movie they are talking about
vernonw703 February 2016
I just watched the movie and the plot synopsis is totally wrong. It is not even close. This isn't a movie about vampires. There are no supernatural beings. This is a low budget(I'm thinking 500 bucks) slasher flick that is based on a reality show. The acting absolutely atrocious and that is from everyone involved....no standouts here. It just goes on then dies......the movie doesn't even have an ending. It was horrible from beginning to end. I can't believe I watched the whole thing. I gave this movie 2 stars just because I have seen worse, not much worse, but worse nonetheless. If you want to give it a shot, go ahead, but don't say I didn't warn you.

How does this have sequels?
dimitrimelnikoff6 January 2021
Whoever put the idea in the head of Rene Perez to become a director deservers to be shot publicly. What a dumb movie. The actors are horrible. The music is so bad it sounds like it was made by an 11 year old on a laptop, and the "gore" is so bad it looks comical.

Grotesque, mind numbing yet unable to look away
nzsarge4 February 2016
This movie has to be the worst thing I have ever laid eyes on yet, I was unable to turn it off giving it a score of 10/10. It featured everything you want in a movie from acting that looks as though it was dubbed over with the original actors voice in a batman "kapow" "URGH!" manner.

The special effects were amazing though, they must have spent upwards of $15 on the makeup and $500 on the rent of the cabin.

I hope the director/producer/story editor/... Rene whats-his-name who did everything, probably shot the movie himself uses a bigger SD card next time so we get to see the ending of his next film.

Solid and worthy follow-up
kannibalcorpsegrinder21 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Stuck on hard times, a struggling single mother accepts an offer to become a part of a new reality show and joins the others on the shoot deep in the woods to escape from a masked killer, but when they learn it's a setup with a real killer stalking them one-by-one try to get away alive.

This here was quite the decent follow-up effort. One of the better aspects of this one is the improvement in several areas over the original, including upping the ante on the body count. Rather than focus the time on a single individual, this one takes great use of the reality show-shoot concept by artificially adding a few extra bodies to hack up that also means it contains some extra blood and gore in the kills with more opportunities to do so. From the opening assault on the lone victim in the woods to the tied-up and mutilated body, this one features a nice start here while still undergoing the confines of the reality show setup here that it goes through in the first half. The game itself is quite a decent setup with them attempting to survive a make-believe horror film only to find themselves in a real one, and with the isolation of the deep woods and plenty of atmosphere generated from the lavish house that leads plenty of good fun to come from the stalking scenes to be featured here. From the series of ambushes showing him sneaking up on the victims inside the house to the chase through the woods after finding the strung up body inside the tree, these scenes here aren't that bad and definitely set up the fun to be had in the final half where it's down to the two of them in the final confrontation in the woods which is a decent overall setpiece that has a lot to like with the shootouts and confrontations with the killer. It also doesn't hurt that this continues to exploit its fine central killer who is an insanely chilling presence that this one gets a lot of mileage out of as the flesh-colored mask wrapped in barbed wire and twisted metal still leaves an indelible mark during his scenes. These here hold it up over it's few minor flaws. The main issue here is the fact that there's just such an abbreviated and quick ending that it's nearly impossible to be put off by what happens since it's smack in the middle of a battle that has both sides at a standstill rendering it impossible to know what happened. This literally reads as though it ran out of money and never bothered to go back to finish what was going on as this just ends without deciding anything. As well, this one suffers from a similar flaw from the original in its lack of overall clarity with what's going on. Hardly anything is explained at all here, from what the employer at the computer monitors is trying to accomplish to what the purpose of the killer is supposed to mean and why he's unaware of it all from the start. Alongside the moments where it's obvious the low budget comes shining through, these are what holds this one back.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Language and Brief Nudity.

I Really Want to Do Bad Things to the Writer/Director!!!
jtimmccormick-0535225 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was an okay B-horror movie until the end. There was no END. There was a STOP. The action just stopped in the middle of the climactic scene! So, this movie is a huge piece of crap, and no one should invest ANY of their valuable time on it!!!

So bad it's "good"
adeleysim21 January 2019
The film starts off strong by having the worst actors ever and a very campy plot. It was really entertaining in that aspect. However, it just rushes to end, not even putting in any effort to wrap it up properly. The crappy ending seems like a last ditch attempt to make sure that they did waste your time.

Worse than the original & that's saying something!
vengeance201 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After the first film left a pretty shitty taste in my mouth, I didn't think there would be even so much as a hint of there being a sequel! How wrong was I

Was in Morrison's one day in the DVD isle last month in January, new year means new releases & me being a horror guru always have to check out the DVD isle & came across this...now I didn't know this was what the film was title as...Playing With Dolls: Bloodlust, I saw & bought a film as Leatherface, apparently in our country, the UK it's titled differently with a ripoff like title!

Hell the first was so bad I'm surprised they didn't use this technique all over & have it on here as Leatherface! Jesus! Any thing to get a pound out of people! I knew the killer on the cover looked somewhat similar, but I bought it anyway. It was only until then, from closer inspection, from the cast & crew that I realised that this was the sequel, from Googling to a strong inkling, though I horrifyingly thought for a split second that I had purchased the same film, I got rid of Playing With Dolls in Cex, but fortunately this wasn't, though I was apprehensive & almost sorry I got rid of the other as I had a feeling this one might continue on, though I didn't think so...how right I was!

The film was flat out crap! Aside from the honey bun actress, Natasha Blastick! The film was boring & had no gory action the first one had! Hell the blood effects were either crap, or too small in use amounts it was terrible. There's no group of friend, nor any proper premise. There's no real set up or anything here, it just seems badly slapped together & lacking in action. There was no continuation of the story-line, nor any connection with the first film, I also felt this one lacked badly in deaths & action. The first even done well at this & even setting the film up, it was a hell of a lot better than this, the ending to the first was out right rude!!

The ending to this one however, wasn't so bad, but I was still horrified by it & how I had so many unanswered questions! It simply left me feeling cheated! I was hoping this one would be better & end better, seeing as how the first was a real let down in the ending factor! It was basically unfinished! While this lacked & had a pretty inconclusive ending!

Nice job with them trying to pull the wool over my eyes with that title, I would've thought twice before buying this,. though I would've anyway to see but it's simply chump change in comparison to how much they spent making this trollop!

The irony here is the film had the story & semi OK ending, which I would much preferred in the first, yet the first film had the action, gore & story but lacked the ending! So you can see what I'm getting at here! If the first had a more complete ending or at least the ending the second one did, then I'd of kept it. But this film lacked & makes watching it on a free website seem justifiable.

2/10 Really not as good as the first, though the first was crap too, ending wise so it's hard to say which is worse...!

Playing With Dolls: Bloodlust
a_baron23 July 2018
This is not so much a sequel as part of a franchise. Instead of having a lone damsel being terrified, tormented and tortured by a mysterious psychopath, we start with four "contestants" - two male and two female. They are secreted in an isolated luxury cabin and told the one who survives until the end will win a million dollars with a lot more and fame to follow. It is fair to say that none of the group expected the word survive to be taken too literally, and one by one they are picked off.

The plot is fairly predictable, especially if you are unfortunate enough to have seen the previous offering, but sadism, gratuitous maiming and murder can only carry any film so far. The real tragedy of "Playing With Dolls..." is that the man behind it has missed his true vocation; Rene Perez also composed and performed its vastly superior soundtrack.

Potential that sadly flopped.
wolverine3410 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
OK it is a low budget film, and I didn't expect any awards.

From the opening you could tell how low a budget it was (or should be). However I enjoy films and also filmmaking so thought I would give it a try. First off, the other reviews mention how many kills the masked killer made. They must have watched a different edit from me. Granted, you don't see all of the kills but you know what has happened.

I will be honest and say I felt they were doing OK for such a low budget film. I have seen a lot worse. The main actress was definitely worth watching too.

I was wanting to know how the film ended as I was hoping to see the guy get back to his son and the main character get back to her daughter.

Well I think maybe they ran out of money or ideas!! Have you ever watched a film that ended quite suddenly? Well this beats any I have seen, which prompted me to write this.

Spoiler alert here. The 'hero' is fighting the big bad masked killer, while the main bad guy watches on. They both grab each other's throat.....the end. Yup the credits role. I am guessing it is because they wanted to make a sequel, either that or they really did run out of money!!

I also felt the director wanted certain shots or scenes but they failed while filming them. As I said. They had potential for a good wee film. OK actors, I felt they were OK and I have seen worse in bigger budget films. Beautiful actress, and a killer with a rather cool scary mask.

I wish I was on the production to see what was going wrong. Also please bare in mind this is an extremely low budget film. If you watch films like this expecting a Friday the 13th or Halloween film, I can tell you right now, just don't watch the film. I give them 4 stars for their attempt, but take 6 off for errors and especially that ending!!!

A project that relishes its own oddness.
parry_na1 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes, when there is a lack of budget, infusing a film with a sense of dark humour can compensate. It seems to me that director/writer Rene Perez embraces this and never lets his production take itself too seriously. This filters through to the actors too, who may not be truly convincing, but seem to be enjoying themselves, and that enjoyment is somewhat infectious.

The storyline is also suitably odd. A group of four financially embarrassed wannabes are brought together to take part in a reality television show in an expansive shack in the middle of a deep forest with no internet, and no signal for cell phones. As the gravel-voiced hostess announces, it is best not to set fire to the house, as there will be no-one remotely near to put it out. What would health and safety say? And yet, there is someone watching, a chain-smoking, well-dressed millionaire type (played by Richard Tyson), who observes all from a variety of cameras dotted about the place.

This is the sequel to 'Playing with Dolls (2015)', also spearheaded by Perez and starring Tyson alongside Natasha Blasick. A further instalment, 'Playing with Dolls: Havoc' was released in 2017.

Back to this, and the two star-struck females Stina (Karin Brauns) and Nico (Elonda Seawood) are quite clearly hired for their physical (and surgically enhanced) looks, but then, if this really was a reality show, then that would be true to form. The girls are empty-headed but quite likeable. The killer, who appears not be an actor, but a real murderer - in which case, do the producers know this? - pops up from time to time and dispatches people and bizarrely, remains unseen by the rest.

The further we get into this, the less I understand it. Here's a spoiler: Trina, the last survivor, is told she has won the prize of a million dollars. What does she think has happened to the others? Clearly she's not bothered! Sadly, no-one seems to have told the killer, who ties her up and begins to torture her in some pretty grisly scenes - after which, he gives her a hearty pat on the shoulder!

Colin Bryant, who is hugely built, plays Magnus, the hero. In another spoiler, he hasn't perished after all and he and Stina elect to fight the masked killer. A couple of minutes into the scrap, watched by Tyson ... the end credits roll! Is this a cliff-hanger or did they just run out of money?

Despite the head-melting incomprehensibility of it all, I really rather enjoyed this. The direction is good, the masked killer looks formidable and there are some very gory moments. The weirdness of it all convinced me to keep watching to see what would happen next. A project that relishes its own oddness.

Worth watching for 1 Reason... Maybe 2 😜
shodgson-4789513 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The film is not bad, but the films not great. The film does have one thing going for it & that's the eye candy. Especially Elonda Seawood being the most memorable character in an otherwise by the numbers horror film that has been done to death & far better.

The kills in the movie are not great, in fact most are off screen & the ones that are on screen aren't exactly inventive. There are actually 3 films in the franchise I only saw this one with my friends & we weren't exactly impressed but we weren't bored either with Miss Seawood keeping us "entertained" for over half the film & she is actually the best actor out of the entire cast in the film & this has.at least one pretty established star.
