Storyline

Now dating police clerk Margaret, whose informality annoys house keeper Mrs Maguire, Sidney hears a confession by blood-stained Theo Graham, who believes he has killed his landlord Eric Whittaker. However Eric is very much alive - until some days later he is fatally run over by a hit and run driver, causing Theo to go on the run. Sidney and Geordie investigate the boarding house run by Eric and his seductive widow Vivian to discover other suspects and motives. Meanwhile gay curate goes to the cinema with a gentleman friend and Sidney's old flame Amanda, whose husband had warned him to stay away from her, returns to the area. Written by don @ minifie-1

The Reverend always rings twice

After dealing with spies at Cambridge University the previous week it is a more intimate episode this week dealing with a femme fatale suffering violent abuse from her husband.

The episode kicks off with a young man confessing to killing his landlord with a knife. Geordie and Sidney find the man is alive and well but he is also a bit rough with his wife.

The landlord is later killed by a hit and run driver. The young man now a suspect has an alibi,. Sydney thinks that the landlord's wife has been manipulating the residents in the house to kill on her behalf and decided to charm a confession out of her.

Meanwhile, Sydney's ex, Amanda has been arrested for shoplifting and has a chat with Geordie. She soon finds out that Sydney has a new girlfriend.

This episode is a lot more small scale and Liz White is a good guest star as the vulnerable but also an unscrupulous suspect but the mystery felt too slight and too much emphasis on the tangled love live of Sydney and even the curate Leonard who is seeing the mucky photographer from the first episode.
