Goofs

The SS are aware that Detective Archer does not share their beliefs, and that his wife was killed by German bombing. Yet they choose to keep him as the chief local policeman on a case they view as enormously important.

In actual history, all occupied countries had some police who were pro-Nazi. See more »

A Major Disappointment
23 February 2017 | by scottwood-48242See all my reviews

I had greatly looked forward to this adaption of a very good novel. 5 minutes into the first episode I was appalled by the atrocious quality of the sound and diction from the main actor, Sam Riley. Riley 'spoke' throughout in a ridiculous growly and throaty barely audible mumble which seems to be becoming a BBC speciality of late, with several series garnering similar complaints. Time to put a stop to it. What is the point of actors unable or unwilling to speak clearly?
