The incident to which Gruard refers, "17th October 1961. The bodies of 300 Algerians were recovered outside Nanterre.", is a real event. French police attacked Algerians who were protesting. The death toll is unknown, with 48 deaths acknowledged officially, but unofficial estimates ranging between 100 and 300. It is believed that the attack on the protesters was deliberately ordered by the head of the Parisian police, Maurice Papon.
