There Is No Free Lunch

Harry rescues Ben Grady that is unconscious under the boat in the bottom of the river and is considered a hero by the press. However, Winter believes he let Kevin Grey escape on purpose. Harry and Suri find hidden money in the plane hired by Lily-Anne where Grey would flee, but she lawyer-up and denies any crime. Then Harry and Suri visit Harry's brother Rich Clayton, who tells who might have forged documents for Grey. They continue their investigation and soon Harry realizes that his luck is a curse and there is a price to pay for his luck.

"Win Some, Lose Some" is another great episode of "Lucky Man". Now Harry Clayton learns that his luck is a curse and the price to pay is expensive, happening bad things to those he loves. The conflict with his chief is clichés and does not add anything to the plot. His wife responsible to defend the criminal is promising. My vote is eight.

The bracelet really comes into the plot now.

Warning: Spoilers
The first episode of this new cop thriller series with a comic book style twist though a bit campy was a stormer and the good news is the second is just as thrilling.

Detective Harry Clayton(superb James Nesbitt)still has that mysterious bracelet on his arm and its becoming more handy for him but what does that kind of luck mean, well we find out that with great luck for him becomes bad luck for others.

Harry and his pretty partner Suri(Amara Karen)are after Kevin Grey who they suspect murdered crime boss Freddy Lau and the girl Kevin loved who he believes was stolen by Lau to be with him.

Whilst this happens Harry's boss DS Winter(Steven Mackintosh)and DI Steve Orwell(Darren Boyd)have opened a case on Harry suspecting him of dodgy dealings and maybe think he was involved in Lau's death.

Harry has this and the bracelet to contend with that is still bringing him good luck but at what price and he is still being followed by strange beauty Eve(Sienna Guillory)who gave him the bracelet.

We find though the bracelet might be the worst thing he could ever have.

This second episode was more fast paced and we see what the bracelet does when Harry needs it which includes winning at a greyhound meeting, uncovering a crooked con artist fiddling people at cards(doesn't end well for him either)and running over a busy motorway without a bump on him.

Nesbitt is brilliant and you feel the series would be half as good if another actor was chosen and he is backed up by a supreme cast and all is given more to do than before.I just love Karen as Suri(beauty and brains)and the slimy but excellent Mackintosh as Harry's shady boss.

There is still something camp about it at times but its great to see comic book style visuals on a British cop series and its full of thrills and spills and you feel its heading for some shocking twists at some point and its led by a funny and always watchable lead actor.

My favourite new television series.
