Alif (2015)

The four generations of women in the film are identical sufferers, and when two of them rise in revolt, it speaks for millions of women out there, from all castes and creeds, who will be subjected to a lifetime of desolation and gloom.

Good intentions but disastrous execution
10 July 2018 | by JithindurdenSee all my reviews

A good hearted attempt against the misogynistic views of Islam from the Malabar region of Kerala directed by one from that society itself. But it never rises above the superficial and glorifies both Islam and Communism which lies in the opposite spectrum. However good the intentions were the end product is a film with a bad script and bland direction that often wanders to other places without even realising.
