Trivia

Females in jeopardy: In the opening sequence, a female is seen bound and gagged in the trunk of a car. The movie then enters a flashback to a month earlier. At about 50 minutes in, Mandy is knocked out by John and kidnapped. She awakens in his trunk bound and gagged and is taken to his secret lair where she is tied to a wall. With about 57 minutes remaining, John pushes in to Kaley's home and threatens her at gunpoint. She is also kidnapped and taken to the lair, where she is also tied to a wall near Mandy. With about 49 minutes remaining, Avery is kidnapped by John and taken to the lair, where she is also tied to a wall with the other two. With about 26 minutes remaining, all three girls are taken by John to a meet with two gun thugs, one of whom slaps Kaley. Kaley is re-kidnapped by the gun thugs, who flee with her when a vehicle approaches, while Avery and Mandy are taken back to the lair. At about 12 minutes remaining, Mandy is threatened by Wanda at gunpoint. As they are all leaving, Wanda shoots John in the shoulder, and John pulls and shoots Wanda in the chest, ganking her. Mandy picks up Wanda's now convenient gun and the girls flee with wounded John in pursuit. Avery makes a 911 call and both her and Mandy are rescued by police. Kaley's status is never revealed, it is presumed she was sold into sex trafficking. See more »

Goofs

The girls are pranking John, but never take a photo of him holding the sign he made. They instead only took photos from behind which do not identify him or show his sign. Popular prank sites that expose Nigerian scammers always have the pranked subject holding their sign. See more »

Quotes

Kaley: [Kaley is controlling her laughter and gleefully recording Trevor on the bed, with a glass of water she eventually pours on his crotch, which wakes him up. She eventually cannot control her laughter] Oh, my God!
Trevor Lansing: [exclaims] Ohhhhhhhhhh.
Kaley: [giggling] Look! You pissed yourself!
Trevor Lansing: [starts arising from the bed] Go to hell, Kaley!
Mandy: [comes in as Kaley is laughing] What happened?
Trevor Lansing: [annoyed] Ask your friend.
[leaves]
Mandy: Kaley! You promised not to play a trick on him.
Kaley: It's water.
[looks at her phone and puts it back]

Although not the best movie ever made, this one has wisdom beyond its time. There is a clever and debatable shift of villainy from the ruthless prank of the girls to the victim who takes revenge to extremes. It clearly labels the initial prank as wrong, yet within the course of retaliation for the main character we viewers want to see at least two of the three girls survive. Kaley was clearly the instigator and even displays unusual arrogance while in captivity. Her movie-ending fate is surprising yet perhaps appropriate.

Another note is that John, the avenging captor, during one scene delivers a brief monologue containing words which sound as if they were coming from the mouth of Elliot Rodger, the UCLA Santa Barbara mass murderer of 2014 who left behind a lengthy manifesto after taking the lives of six people and killing himself. His actions are not to be condoned, yet some of the lessons learned from his posthumous expression of thought are understandable and the tale of this movie seems to subtly reflect them.

Nice to see Alexandra Paul in another Lifetime movie too. I will always remember her from "Christine" way back when.

Repeats of "The Bride He Bought Online" and worth watching, and perhaps more worth noting.
