some light fun
11 May 2017 | by SnoopyStyleSee all my reviews

On the South Pacific Island of Zephyria, Zorn (Jason Sudeikis) is the heroic violent barbarian leader. It's his son Alangulon (Johnny Pemberton)'s birthday and he travels to Orange County, California to see him. His ex-wife Edie (Cheryl Hines) has new fiancée Craig (Tim Meadows), a professor of psychology in an online college. She's putting her wild days behind her. He decides to stay close to his son and gets an office sales job working for Linda Orvend (Artemis Pebdani) as the diversity hire. Layla (Clara Mamet) becomes Alan's girlfriend.

It's a fun irreverent show. The cartoon element is fun. The live actors are all terrific and they interact well with the cartoons. There is some good light comedy. It is a little different from the rest of Fox's cartoon slate. It doesn't have the biggest laughs but it's perfectly good fun.
